World Cup '90 (bootleg, set 1) [Bootleg] is a game about the senior men's national football teams' biennial football competition. It took place in Italy from June 8 to July 8, 1990, making it the second country to host the event (the first being Mexico in 1986). Qualifying began in April 1988 with teams representing 116 national football organisations. The method qualified 22 teams, including the host country Italy and the incumbent champion Argentina.
West Germany won the competition for the third time in a row. In a rematch of the previous final four years ago, they defeated Argentina 1–0 in the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. After losing on penalties in the semi-finals, Italy is third and England is fourth. It was the last tournament to feature a West German team, since the country was reunified with East Germany a few months later in October, as well as teams from the Eastern Bloc until the conclusion of the Cold War. Like the Soviet Union, it terminated in 1991. Last to emerge were the Union and Czechoslovakian squads. Costa Rica, Ireland, and the United Arab Emirates made their debuts in the final.
