X-Men - children of the atom (950331 Euro)

X-Men - Children of the Atom (950331 Euro) is a Capcom arcade game that was released in Japan in 1994 and in North America and Europe in 1995 for CP System II arcade hardware.
It is the first fighting game made by Capcom that uses Marvel Comics characters under license. It is based on the X-Men comics. The game was released sometime between the mid-1990s X-Men animated series and contains voice actors from the series reprising their roles. The premise of the game is inspired on the "Deadly Hotspot" comic book tale, in which the player controls one of the X-Men or one of their foes in a battle against the villain Magneto. They fight three one-on-one battles against other characters in the game before facing Juggernaut and Magneto.
Super Street Fighter II Turbo and Darkstalkers are two prior Capcom fighting games with similar mechanics. Children of the Atom introduces a combo system with extended combos that may even be completed in mid-air. The game also includes many tactical moves, such as the ability to scroll the character. The ground will disintegrate and characters will descend to the lowest half of the level in Children of the Atom's multi-tiered battle setting. Beginning with the game's successor, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, these principles and the game's quick pace will serve as the foundation for the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise.
