Aidyn Chronicles - The First Mage (USA)
The world of Aidyn Chronicles - The First Mage (USA) is three-dimensional. Alaron is a polygon-based figure that the player can move both within and outside of buildings. Behind him, the view is primarily from a third person perspective. Time moves in real time, with battle and visibility changing with the seasons (see below). In regular gameplay, there is no option to alter Alaron's movement speed or the camera view. Other than in combat mode, the player is unable to control any other party members. The player can access the settings menu, world map, and world map, equip the party members, and check their abilities and stats through a pop-up menu.
Turn-based combat is possible, however the order of turns can be influenced by the player's characters' and attacking monsters' stats. Alaron and his group are taken to a different screen with different landscape when action begins. Each party member has a set distance that can be moved by the player, shown by translucent borders. Character placement can affect an attack's damage and efficacy, including height and back assaults. Additionally, depending on the time of day, the characters' aspect (lunar or solar) will perform better or worse. The area of effect for spells and other talents is indicated by a red flame border, which gets bigger the higher the skill level. Any party member who perishes in battle loses their power to resurrect and is eliminated from the game forever. The game ends automatically if Alaron dies.
