Dig Dug (rev 2)
The video game Dig Dug is a maze. In order to defeat the foes on each screen—Pokas, which are red monsters with absurdly big goggles, and Fygars, which are green dragons that breathe fire—the player takes control of the protagonist Dig Dug (Taizo Hori). Dig Dug can crush them beneath heavy falling rocks or inflate them to the point of bursting using an air pump. Slaying numerous foes with a single rock earns bonus points, and if two rocks are dropped during a stage, a bonus item is produced that can be consumed to earn more points. Dig Dug goes on to the next level after eliminating every adversary.
Using ghostly eyes, enemies pursue Dig Dug through the ground, only solidifying in the air when his pump is able to stun or destroy them. Eventually, enemies get faster and more violent, and the final one tries to flee. Subsequent stages have different colored dirt and more monsters that move quickly.
256 stages make up the game. When a person comes into contact with an enemy, Fygar's fire, or a falling rock, they lose their life. Although they start the game with additional lives, players must endure a "survival of the fittest" mode until the last Dig Dug, which concludes the game, at 900K points.
