Alien Syndrome (USA, Europe)
Alien Syndrome is an action-shooter game originally released by Sega in arcades in 1987 and later ported to various home consoles.
How to play
1. Characters:
- Choose between two characters: Ricky or Mary (names may vary in different versions)
2. Gameplay:
- It's a top-down shooter with maze-like levels
- Your goal is to rescue hostages and defeat aliens
3. Controls:
- Use the joystick or D-pad to move in eight directions
- One button to shoot
- Another button to select weapons (in some versions)
4. Objectives:
- Rescue a specified number of hostages in each level
- Find the exit once you've rescued enough hostages
- Defeat the boss at the end of each stage
5. Weapons:
- Start with a basic gun
- Collect weapon power-ups to access stronger weapons like lasers, flamethrowers, etc.
6. Items:
- Collect power-ups for speed boosts, temporary invincibility, etc.
- Find maps to reveal the entire level layout
7. Hostages:
- Locate and touch hostages to rescue them
- A counter shows how many hostages you still need to save
8. Time Limit:
- Each level has a time limit
- If time runs out, you lose a life
9. Enemies:
- Various alien creatures will attack you
- Shoot them or avoid them
10. Boss Battles:
- Each level ends with a boss fight
- Bosses require specific strategies to defeat
11. Multiplayer:
- Some versions support two-player cooperative play
12. Lives and Continues:
- You have limited lives
- Game over when all lives are lost, but you can usually continue
Alien Syndrome is known for its fast-paced action, maze exploration, and cooperative gameplay. The game can be quite challenging, especially in later levels where enemies become more numerous and aggressive.
