This updated version of the Joe Montana series has 3D models and even full-motion video of Joe Montana himself. It has a full NFL license with all 28 teams of the time and their logos and nicknames. It also has 10 of the best Super Bowl teams of all time, like the 1985 Bears and the 1972 Dolphins, that the player can play against if they win the biggest game of the year.

The view is from behind the quarterback, and there are four different ways to play back a play, including a "Helmet Cam." It has videos and voices that have been digitized, like Joe Montana's, and the player can talk to him three times during a game. There are also the usual modes, like regular exhibition games and a full-season mode with playoffs and, of course, the Super Bowl.
