Sonic CD (Japan)
Sonic CD (Japan) is a platform game that works like the first Sonic the Hedgehog game. Players take control of Sonic the Hedgehog as he tries to stop his enemy Doctor Robotnik from getting the magical Time Stones and taking over Little Planet. Like in his other games, Sonic can roll into a ball and destroy enemies and objects (like certain walls and TV monitors with power-ups) and get health by collecting rings. Sonic can also increase his speed with a "spin dash" and a "super peel-out." There are seven stages in the game. In the first and second games, the levels were called "zones." In this game, however, the levels are called "rounds," and what used to be called "acts" are now called "zones." Each round has three different areas, and the third one ends with a boss fight against Robotnik. Players start with three lives, which they lose when they get hurt without having any rings. If they lose all three lives, the game is over.
