Sonic the Hedgehog CD (Jun 21, 1993 prototype)

Sega launched Sonic the Hedgehog CD on Sega CD in 1993. Sonic the Hedgehog saves Little Planet from Doctor Robotnik. Sonic runs and hops across themed levels, collecting rings and fighting enemies. Time travel is fundamental to Sonic CD's story and gameplay. Players can access multiple layouts, music, and images by going through time.

Sonic CD, the Sega CD's flagship title, was rebuilt after Sonic 2's poor sales in Japan. Sonic co-creator Naoto Ohshima directed the game to showcase the Sega CD. Amy Rose and Metal Sonic debut, and animated cutscenes are included. Naofumi Hataya and Masafumi Ogata composed the original Japanese and European score, while Spencer Nilsen, David Young, and Mark "Sterling" Crew composed the North American score.
