Track & Field

Thank you for playing Track & Field.
The player controls movement in the original arcade game with two "run" buttons (or trackballs in later units that replace buttons worn out from repeated use) and one "action" button. There were six events in which members competed:
Run the 100 meters while swiftly pushing the button alternatively;
Hold the jump button to establish the angle (ideally 42 degrees), and long leap while alternatingly pushing the button and timing the jump;
Run the javelin throw by pressing the button and the action button alternately to time the precise angle (43 degrees is recommended);
110-meter hurdles: timing jumps by pressing the button and the action button alternately;
Hammer Throw - spinning begins with a single run button hit, followed by a timely action button press to select the angle (45 degrees is ideal);
High leap: Run at a pace determined by the computer, then hold down the action button to choose the angle of the jump; while in the air, fast push the run button to heighten the jump.
Long-jump contest
The player must meet a time or qualifying standard in each event in order to move on to the next one; failing to do so will reduce the number of lives they have by one (three attempts in other events or one join in running events), but if none of them can be used, the game will be ended. For every 100,000 points scored, players receive one additional life.
